A battle of two poker professional players produced one of the 2007 Aussie Millions biggest pots of the event as Gus Hansen squared off against Patrik Antonius. Hansen bet $500k into the A♣ J♥ 9♥ flop, and made a quick call when the rival Antonius hard-pressed all in. Antonius, who fought back from $2k stack on the 2nd day, found his pot put at risk as he reviled the A♥ 8♥ and Hansen showed the J♣ J♠ . No help came as the Q♠ turn or 8♣ river, and Antonius exited the Aussie Millions tournament in 13th place ($90k). That hand pushed Hansen chip stack in excess of $3 million.
While all other players avoided going out on the tournament's second dreaded bubble, Gus Hansen, took numerous blinds and antes with a series of preflop raises. That man had no fear, as he won the Aussie Millions which also spawned the book Every Hand Revealed in which Gus documents his thoughts on each hand from that event.
The game ended when Gus Hansen became the Aussie Millions 2007 champion. He has knocked out Pokerstars' own Jimmy "gobboboy" Fricke with pocket Aces, claiming the title and the $1.5 million dollar first prize.
That was after Jimmy earns $1 million dollars for his absolutely superb performance in his only third major tournament, and he certainly made the feared Danish player, who counts four WPT titles among his string of multi-million dollar major tournament victories, work very hard for his money.
