The development of a new casino in Manila has been backed by Australia and China's ambassadors to the Philippines, both of whom attended an inauguration ceremony this week.
Melco Crown Entertainment is primarily focused with the Macau market, but a subsidiary of the business is currently overseeing the creation of a new gambling facility in Manila.
Ma Keqing from China and Bill Tweddell from Australia each attended the ceremony as guests of honour.
Lawrence Ho, co-chairman and chief executive officer of Melco Crown Entertainment, said the company is extremely grateful for the support from two of its Asia-Pacific counterparts.
He explained the project in the Philippines "provides us with an opportunity to showcase our vast experience in designing and operating World-Class gaming and entertainment resorts in Asia".
The new casino will be located within Entertainment City and will include gambling offerings for both the mass market and VIP gaming guests.
