Jesse McKenzie 'Got Into Poker Through Bowls'

Bowls led to poker for one player

Jesse McKenzie has been speaking about his rise from a humble bowling club worker to one of Australia's most successful online poker players.

In an interview with Poker News, the 28-year-old revealed it was his wages from bowls that first allowed him to put down stakes on poker events.

Now, McKenzie is a hugely successful star in the game and recently appeared at the Aussie Millions tournament. He has cashed thousands of dollars throughout his short career to date.

He picked out Brad Bower as one of his main inspirations, stating: "Brad helped me immensely, mainly through Skype. I would post-hand histories and ask about tournament situations. I had already logged 10,000 games of sit-n-gos."

McKenzie's rise to poker stardom may not have been an entirely unorthodox one, but he has learnt plenty during the tournaments he has appeared in and he retains a steely determination to reach the very top of the game.ADNFCR-16000716-ID-801553546-ADNFCR
