Day 1A Underway In AZNPT Perth Main Event

The Main Event action has kicked off in Perth

Australian poker fans will have been keeping an eye on Perth in recent days following the arrival of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT), and the Main Event is now underway in the city's Crown casino.

This is the third stop in Season 5 of the ANZPT, and last year's title was won by Mat Carlsson who claimed the crown ahead of his rivals.

We're still in the early stages of 2013's Main Event, with the Day 1A opening flight having kicked off on Wednesday (February 20th), but the players will be looking to establish an early advantage at the felt.

It is Brad Bower who has emerged as the frontrunner following the initial hands, and at the time of writing he is the chip leader with a stack of 39,500.

Patrick Healy is in second with 28,500 while Gary Benson is third with 25,000.

It might still be early days, but the three leaders will be looking to capitalise on their strong start.
