Australian poker star Damian Viney has emerged victorious in the Poker Zone Cup at Adelaide Casino, besting a field of 86 players to claim the title in the Main Event.
With the entrants generating a prize pool of $85,140, Viney grabbed $28,100 for his exploits at the felt, while second place Nick Morales scooped $15,330 and Javad Etaat took $10,220 in third.
The field was whittled down quickly on Day 1, and 17 players returned to the tables for Day 2 where a further seven were eliminated.
The ten player final table then kicked off, and while Viney didn't have the chip lead he was still sitting comfortably behind a stack of 301,000 chips to the leader's 457,000.
Viney then navigated his way to victory to take the first prize and the Poker Cup trophy home from Adelaide - an impressive achievement given the quality of the opposition he faced at the felt.
