Michael Guzzardi has established a lead at the top

The third stop on the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) Season 5 calendar is set to get underway in Perth next week, and it is Australia's Michael Guzzardi who currently leads the way in the race for the Player of the Year (POY) title.

Guzzardi sits at the top of the pile on 105.85 points after impressive performances on the first two stops of the tour, which saw him bag a third place finish in the Melbourne Main Event and a win in the Auckland Pot Limit Omaha towards the end of 2012.

This means that the Aussie will most likely be looking to further establish himself in the hunt for the crown when ANZPT Season 5 resumes in Perth, although there are plenty of players who will be planning to chase him.

Jie Gao is in second with 88.7 points, while Ashley Warner and Paul Hocking are joint third on 79.45.
