Australian poker star Grant Levy has surged 373 places in the Global Poker Index (GPI) to occupy 244th spot following the latest round of updates.
Levy's sharp rise up the table is a result of his performance at the Caribbean Adventure, where he claimed first place in one of the side events to bag a US$78,940 payday.
He also advanced to Day 2 of the US$25,000 high roller and Day 3 of the Main Event, which will have given his point score in the GPI an added boost.
Levy joins fellow Aussies Jonathan Karamilikis, Jeffrey Rossiter, Oliver Speidel and Aaron Lim in the GPI 300, while Tam Truong has slipped down to 316th after a 32-place drop.
But with a total of five Aussies in the GPI 300, 2013 has started off extremely well for Australian poker players considering that the latter months of 2012 saw Karamilikis flying the flag by himself as his compatriots struggled to break into the rankings.
