Speidel And Lim Break Into GPI 300

It's a good start to 2013 for Australians in the GPI 300

Australia's poker stars have got off to a brilliant start in 2013, with Oliver Speidel and Aaron Lim bursting into the Global Poker Index (GPI) 300.

With the two players joining Jonathan Karamilikis and Jeffrey Rossiter in the rankings that means that there are now four Aussie poker players in the GPI 300 for the first time in several months.

Lim jumped 47 places in the latest update to take 264th spot, while Speidel leapt 56 places into 258th.

Rossiter slipped nine spots into 144th, and Karamilikis - who has been flying the Aussie flag in the GPI 300 for some time now - rose 16 into 114th as he knocks on the door of the top 100.

Elsewhere, Germany's Marvin Rettenmaier has wrestled the number one spot from America's Dan Smith.

It is the first time the German has reached the summit and he'll be hoping to hold on to it for as long as possible as the 2013 action gets underway.ADNFCR-16000716-ID-801517128-ADNFCR
