The World Poker Tour (WPT) held its first ever event in China this week, with some of the biggest names from the world of poker turning up to enter the Main Event - including American star Phil Hellmuth.
But despite some of the best players on the planet being present at the tables in the MGM Grand Sanya Resort, it was little-known Zheng Hua Lei who bested a field of 542 players to take the crown and the US$192,406 to go with it.
With a whole host of local players entering the event, the only recognisable name at the final table was Sam Razavi, who recently won the Asian Poker Tour Player of the Year title.
However, despite coming to the felt with the chip lead, Razavi slowly watched his advantage slip and had to settle for third place as a string of Chinese players made their mark in the first major poker tournament to be held on their soil.
