Mercier Misses Out On Lindgren's Record

Jason Mercier fell one year short of matching Lindgren's streak

It has hardly been a whirlwind 2012 for Australian poker players on the world stage, with Americans dominating most of the major events.

And one player in particular who every poker fan will have had their eye on was Jason Mercier, as he was attempting to make over $1,000,000 in live cash earnings for the fifth consecutive year.

Only one person has ever managed this before - Mercier's compatriot Erick Lindgren - and he is set to hold on to his record as Mercier fell at the last hurdle.

The American has broken the magic seven-figure mark for the past four years, but having made US$523,000 at the felt this year, he has failed to match Lindgren's streak and will have to start again from scratch if he is to achieve the feat.

Watch this space in 2017, because Mercier could well get himself back on track in 2013 if he stays active at the tables.ADNFCR-16000716-ID-801510093-ADNFCR
