Benjamin Zhang has overtaken Ray Gebrale as the overall chip leader of the Star Poker Summer Series (SPSS) Main Event after a thrilling day's action.
A total of 89 players made their ways to the tables at the Sports Theatre in Sydney for Day 1B of the event, taking the total prize pool to a cool $634,500.
Among the stars competing at the event included former Aussie Millions winners David Gorr and Tyron Krost, as well as online players Brendon Rubie and Tom Grigg.
Grigg and Rubie both fell at the first hurdle as they exited the tournament but a total of 64 players made it through to the next stage, including Zhang, who finished the day with 159,550.
It means that he now holds the overall chip lead, with Zhang gaining a large proportion of his chips from Daniel Martin after his pair of sevens held up against Martin's flush draw.
