While the World Poker Tour (WPT) is currently stopping off in Prague, China is preparing to host its first event when the tour arrives next week on December 14th.
The MGM Grand Sanya will host proceedings and poker players from across the Asia Pacific - including Australia - are likely to be tempted by the lure of the inaugural event.
But as well as the entrants that the event will draw from overseas, the organisers also expect a great number of Chinese players to take advantage of the opportunity presented by the WPT tournament.
"We are very excited about the potential of this tournament as there are thousands of players in China who aren’t able to play in large tournaments such as this without having to deal with the expense and hassle of travelling out of the country," said WPT CEO Steve Heller.
The excitement of the event is sure to draw the eyes of poker fans across the region, with the final table expected to take place on December 17th.
