With Queensland being home to three casinos, the state's Premier - Campbell Newman - has hinted that a new hotel and gambling complex could be in the pipeline for Brisbane as the authorities look to attract an increasing number of tourists.
According to reports, the city's executive building and public works are set to be demolished, and there is talk that the site could be used for a casino as potential developers keep an eye on the situation.
"[We're going to] have a tender process for a new five-star hotel, a public open space - it could be a casino, it could be our answer to Crown," Mr Newman told ABC News.
While it would take an impressive resort to rival the likes of the Crown complexes in Sydney and Melbourne, gamblers and poker fans in Brisbane will be excited by the prospect of a new establishment in which to try their luck.
