Season IX of the European Poker Tour (EPT) got underway in Barcelona on August 13th and the Main Event is now in full swing, with Australia's Jonathan Karamalikis holding the second-highest chip stack going into Day 5.
But it is local boy Samuel Rodriguez who currently boasts the chip lead, sitting behind a massive 5,330,000 chips as he goes for glory in his home town. Karamalikis has 3,085,000.
With 24 players ready to fight it out for a spot on the final table during Day 5, Karamalikis will face strong competition from the likes of American John Juanda, who has two wins at the World Series of Poker to his name.
Indeed, having narrowly missed out on an EPT Main Event win in London during 2010, Juanda will be determined to go one better this time round.
Whatever happens, there are certain to be some exciting twists and turns in Barcelona before the final starts on Saturday (August 25th).
