Simon Dwyer has emerged victorious from the 2012 Sydney Champs poker tournament, beating 824 rival players in the process.
According to pokerasiapacific.com, Dwyer went into the final with the third highest chip stack of 1,136,000. Shivan Abdine (1,145,000) sat in second while Stefan Post (1,548,000) held the chip lead.
Despite not sitting behind the biggest pile of chips at the start of the final, Simon was able to establish himself in the game before beating Suzy Khoueis when it came down to the last two.
But with all of the players who finished in the top 80 earning at least some of the prize pool, the fact that you don't have to win to walk away from the table having made a profit has been well demonstrated by the 2012 Sydney Champs event.
And whether you quit while you're ahead or go chasing the game, there are plenty of opportunities to make a quick bit of cash from poker.
