Australian poker pro Dave Allan has made the early running at the 2012 Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Snowfest event in New Zealand.
The card ace amassed some 98,200 chips on day 1A of the high-profile tournament, which set a new attendance record with 51 players turning out.
David Wonson and Michael Kanaan are placed second and third respectively, while Laurynas Levinskas and Antonin Duda round out the top five.
With the Asian Poker Tour's (APT) 2012 Macau Main Event kicking off today (July 25th), there was some concern that attendance at the SkyCity Casino in Queenstown would be low, but these feared were allayed with aplomb.
While APT ambassador and 2005 World Series of Poker winner Joe Hachem has headed to the Chinese gaming capital, a host of top names from the world of poker will head to New Zealand to contest the APPT event.
With the Snowfest competition marking the start of APPT Series 6 and also forming part of the New Zealand Poker Tour and Australia New Zealand Poker Tour, the winner will automatically claim a 'Triple Crown'.
