A new Mediterranean Poker Tour has been announced for 2012

Poker fans from all over the world will soon be taking to the high seas following the launch of a new tour.

The Mediterranean Poker Tour has not been in operation since 2008, when just 42 players attended.

However, the tour has been re-launched for 2012 and will now take place on board a luxury cruise liner.

It is hoped that the newly-designed tour will attract the attention of the world's biggest poker stars as it will offer games taking place in stunning surroundings.

The new tournament is due to commence starting November 7th and will represent travel opportunities for Australian poker players as it starts in Genoa before heading past Corsica, Barcelona and Majorca and returning to Genoa on November 11th.

While, the tour will see Aussies heading overseas, the opposite effect will be seen in 2013 when the global poker elite head down under for the World Series of Poker, which will head to Melbourne's Crown Casino as part of its first Asia-Pacific schedule.
