Australian poker celebrated another strong performance from one of its stars earlier this week.
Warwick Mirzikinian became the latest Aussie card ace to cash at the 2012 World Series of Poker (WSOP) after coming in third place in event number six of the high-profile tournament.
Mirzikinian picked up a cheque for £162,433 after putting in a strong performance and challenging for the bracelet in the $5,000 No Limit Hold'em - Mixed Max event.
France's Aubin Cazals won the event outright and left the tables with a cheque for $480,564, while America's Joseph Cheong round out the top three and walked away with $296,956.
It was the biggest payday in Mirzikinian four-year career, eclipsing his previous best of $52,722 in the $2,000 No Limit Hold'em event at the 2009 WSOP.
The cheque is the first for Mirzikinian this year, with his last cash coming at the No Limit Hold'em Team Event at the 2011 Star Poker Summer Series here in Australia.
