Australian poker ace Oliver Speidel was unable to take the crown at the Manila Millions despite a strong performance.
The poker pro was an early leader at the Asian Poker Tour's (APT) Super High Roller event, which was ultimately won by US star Allan Le, but eventually failed to cash.
Speidel was counting on a win or at least a cash placing at the tournament in order to move up the Global Poker Index's Player of the Year chart and boost his profile in the poker world.
However, it was Le who took the glory and a cheque for $1.7 million, while Devan Tang from Hong Kong's took second place and a $1.053 million.
China's Sun Sheng rounded out the top three and walked away from the table with $632,000, while Malaysian ace Richard Yong and US star Keith Gipson completed the top five.
APT ambassador Joe Hachem was also in attendance at the event but crashed out on day one.
